Smoking Old Fashioned! Created at Fine & Rare, New York City

Ingredients:

2 oz. Hudson Manhattan Rye

4 dashes Angostura bitters

1 demerara sugar cube

Orange for twist

Directions:

Gently muddle the sugar cube with the ingredients and stir. Strain into a wine glass with a giant ice cube or sphere. Garnish with an orange twist. Cover the wine glass with a piece of wood, a book, whatever you have lying around, and use a wood-smoker gun to fill the glass with smoke. Take out the hose from the smoker and let the drink sit covered for about 30 seconds. Uncover the drink and enjoy.

Happy St. Patty’s day! A quick Irish Whiskey cocktail should do the trick, with a Brûlée’d Lemon Wheel garnish! 🍋🥃 In a shaker combine: 2 oz Irish Whiskey, 1 oz Lemon juice, ½ oz simple syrup and 2 dashes of our Lime Bitters. Shake with ice, strain into a rocks glass with a large ice cube. If available, using a small kitchen torch, brûlée the lemon wheel after patting the lemon wheel dry and adding a thin layer of white sugar on top, cheers! 🍀☘️🍀☘️🍀☘️🍀☘️🍀☘️🍀

The Whiskey Sour. A cocktail that can be made very simply, or changed in a way that completely changes the texture of a drink your used to, here’s a recipe to really aerate the drink for an almost creamy/foamy feel! In a shaker combine 2 oz @bulleit bourbon, 1 oz lemon juice, ½ oz simple syrup, and 2 dashes of our Spiced Orange Bitters. Add 1 egg white and shake without ice for at least a minute vigorously. Add ice and shake again for about 10 seconds. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass and garnish as desired, as we ran out of Luxardo Cherries 🤭, cheers! 🥃

The Diamondback

This is not a drink that could be described as “A breeze in a meadow”…

So you’ve had a hard week and you just want to punch a wall? This is a drink that’ll punch you back in the face and set you straight, rather like a Manhattan (lovers of that drink should appreciate this). A triple barrelled array of Rye Whiskey, Applejack and Green Chartreuse. Here’s the specifics…

Recipe

1 ½ ounces rye whiskey

¾ ounce applejack

¾ ½ ounce green Chartreuse

Shake twice (with lemon peel the second time). Strain and serve with a Cherry more lemon peel in the glass.

Maps no longer say “here be dragons”, but they are still around. This is one of them, and I love it if I’m in a bad mood or just want to seal off the week and have a hell of a weekend. It’s an assertive drink and if you can handle it you’ll probably love it. However, I have made slight changes to the recipe. The original recipe calls of the addition of a cherry, don’t bother.  I found a tip to shake it twice, with fresh ice, and on the second shake to add lemon peel to the shaker and then to the glass as well. Also I’ve reduced the amount of Chartreuse down by ¼ of an ounce because it was simply too strong for me. But it’s all personal taste, if you don’t like it at first have a bit of a play. It may just grow on you.

Don’t neuter it though, that’d defeat the point. I feel my changes keep the character of the original drink, and just stop the Chartreuse defeating it.
